Student Awards

We celebrate what others might overlook.

Some young people make a difference through what they do. Others make a difference simply by who they are. They lead, serve, advocate, include, encourage, persevere and show up for others in ways both big and small. The Lovis Student Awards recognize and celebrate both who young people are and what they do, and the many ways they make the world around them better.

FAQS

There is no single definition of an award-worthy student. Some make a difference through what they do, while others make a difference simply by who they are. We look for young people who demonstrate qualities such as kindness, compassion, service, leadership, inclusion, advocacy and perseverance, or who show up for others in meaningful ways.

No. There is no academic requirement for either award. The Lovis Student Awards recognize qualities and contributions that aren't always reflected on a report card.

Yes. Students throughout the United States and Washington, D.C. are eligible. Students may attend public, private, charter, virtual or alternative schools, or participate in Extended Services.

Teachers, school staff, coaches, community members, family members and others who know a deserving young person may submit a nomination. Parents and family members are welcome to nominate.

Yes. You may nominate more than one student, but a separate nomination must be completed for each student.

Yes. Nominations are kept confidential, and information about a student is not shared publicly without permission. If a student is selected, Lovis obtains written permission from a parent or legal guardian before publicly recognizing a minor or sharing their story.

Each nomination is thoughtfully reviewed by the Lovis Student Award Committee. Recipients are selected based on the student's character, contributions and the ways they make a difference in the lives of others or their community. Selected recipients and their nominators are typically notified 6-8 weeks after nominations close.

Each recipient receives a special award package filled with items chosen to celebrate their recognition. The contents vary from year to year, but every package is designed to make the recipient feel seen, valued and celebrated.
