Join the Lovis Board

The Lovis Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to spreading joy, was founded in 2016 to honor the memory of a charismatic young man named Logan Brinson. Lovis aims to continue his legacy by promoting charitable initiatives that celebrate individuality, inspire compassion and encourage others to shine.

Our mission to spread joy to the underserved and under-recognized makes a difference with the following programs:

Student award program.  Our student awards allow school personnel to recognize those often overlooked.  We do not have an academic requirement because we focus on how the students make a difference.  The Lovis Extraordinary Student Award is for students in 5th-8th grade.  The Lovis Hero Award is for students in high school and extended services.
Community grant program. This program provides funding for school districts to have Friday Night Out field trips for differently-abled teenagers. These events provide safe experiences to build independent skills and bond with peers outside of school and gives parents and caregivers an evening of respite.

Community engagement program:  Lovis hosts LovisFrost annually.  This is a free disability-friendly winter event with music and dancing for young people who have an Individualized Education Plan.  In 2024, we will host an additional dance in the summer for teenagers and a dance for adults who are disadvantaged.

Community gap program:  We provide a safety vest for a K9 officer with a focus on those who are in under-served areas and provide funding for special needs playground equipment.

Lovis is accepting applications for the following volunteer positions:

– Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for taking board meeting minutes and keeping the board compliant with nonprofit’s bylaws, as well as other administrative duties.  The Secretary is a member of the Board of Directors and will spend approximately 5 hours a month on Lovis-related work.  This position is virtual.

– Board Member-At-Large
We are looking to enhance our board as we’re moving into the next phase of our programming.  Lovis Board members are passionate about making a difference and are willing to attend and engage in board meetings, as well as chair a committee.  This position is virtual.  Committee examples include:
      – Fundraising
      – Community engagement for students (dances and grants)
      – Community engagement for adults
      – Student Awards
      – Branding/Marketing
The monthly time commitment will vary depending on the committee.  For example, the Student Awards have a heavier time commitment in the spring when we deliver the awards compared to the remainder of the year.  On average, there is a 4-5 hour/month time commitment on Lovis-related work.

– Associate Board Member

We created the Associate Board Member position so the voice of the student would be an integrated part of how we spread joy. Each year, we seek a volunteer between the ages of 16 and 23 to join our Board. We ask that applicants be able to demonstrate a connection to an underserved or under-recognized community.

The Associate Board Member will be an active member of our team for one year with an option to serve an additional term.  While this position is unpaid, we offer our Associate Board Member the chance to work directly with our executive team, participate in Board meetings, collaborate on projects that fit their interests and provide valuable insight on decisions that influence the direction of the Foundation. The Associate Board Member will spend approximately 2-4 hours on Lovis-related work each month. We are flexible when it comes to working around school, work and other commitments.

We recommend students interested in nonprofit management, communications, leadership, advocacy and/or public relations apply. This position is virtual.
